Legacy Baptist Church is an autonomous local church in cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention and other likeminded organizations for the advancement of the gospel. We affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
the scriptures
At Legacy Baptist Church, we believe that the Bible is the true inspired Word of God, so it is the basis for our beliefs. God’s Word is our sole authority in matters of faith and practice.
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. It is supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit, and without error in the original manuscripts. It is God’s revelation of Himself to mankind and is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the foundation of the faith and practice of our church.

God
We believe that there is one God who is the creator of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God, without division of nature, essence or being.
Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Deuteronomy 6:4; Jeremiah 10:10; Mark 1:9-11; John 14:6-13; 1 Timothy 1:17
a. God the Father
God the Father reigns over the universe and all creatures. We believe that history is His-story, showing his providential care over all of creation in accordance with His righteous will and for His glory.
Exodus 15:11-27; Psalm 90:2, Isaiah 64:7-8; Matthew 7:11; Romans 8:14-15; Galatians 4:6
b. God the Son
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. He was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose bodily from the dead and appeared to his disciples, then ascended to the right hand of God the Father to mediate reconciliation between God and Man. He will return again to earth to judge the world and to rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Psalm 110:1-7; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 28:1-6; Romans 1:3-4; Colossians 1:15-22; Revelation 5:9-14
c. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is fully divine and co-equal with the Father and the Son. He was active in creation and inspired men to write the Scriptures. He works to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ and lives within every Christian from the moment of salvation. He enables Christians to live a godly life and gives spiritual gifts to each believer when they are saved.

man
We believe that man was created in a special way by God and made, man and woman, in His image. As a consequence of Adam’s sin, man is subject to the wrath of God, justly condemned and unable to save himself. Only God’s grace can bring man into fellowship with God. As the pinnacle of God’s work of creation, being made in God’s image, human life is sacred and should be protected from conception to natural death.

salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, by grace alone through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, apart from any human merit or works. Once received, the gift of salvation is secure and cannot be lost by any means. Sin in the life of a Christian can interrupt the joy of their fellowship with God, and bring loving discipline from the Father, but salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian.

the church
We believe that the universal church is made up of all true believers from Pentecost to the Rapture. The local church is a congregation of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, covenanted together and led by scripturally qualified pastors or elders, served by scripturally qualified deacons, who meet regularly for worship, prayer, teaching, and observance of the ordinances of the church.

Ordinances
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the New Testament church, Baptism and The Lord’s Supper.
We believe that Christian Baptism is by immersion in water following salvation as a step of obedience. Baptism is a public testimony of the believer’s faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and of his union with Christ in death to sin and resurrection to new life.
Matthew 3:16; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; Romans 6:3-5
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes again. The elements of the Lord’s Supper are unleavened bread representing His body and the cup representing His blood.
Matthew 26:26-30; Acts 2:41-42; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29

sex, marriage, and the family
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male and female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Consequently, the rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe marriage is clearly defined in scripture as the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union. The marriage relationship is a beautiful symbol of the relationship between Christ and the Church. As a result, a husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church and a wife to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband, as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.
We believe God intends the gift of sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and woman who are married to each other, and that God has commanded there to be no intimate sexual activity outside of biblical marriage.
We believe that children are a blessing and heritage from the Lord from the moment of conception. Parents have the primary responsibility to teach their children biblical principles for life, while demonstrating God’s pattern for marriage.
Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:15-25; Deuteronomy 22:5; Psalm 127:1-5; Psalm 139:13-16; Proverbs 31:10-31; Matthew 19:3-6; Ephesians 5:21-33; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

last things
We believe in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ to raise the dead in Christ and rapture His saints out of this world. After these things, there will be a seven-year period of tribulation on the earth, the second coming of Christ, a millennial reign of Christ on earth, and the judgement of the lost. The unsaved will be judged to eternal condemnation and believers will enjoy eternity with Christ in the new heaven and new Earth.
